4月の訪日客、前年割れでも2026年の単月最多
日本政府観光局が5月20日に発表した4月の訪日外客数は369万2200人だった。前年同月比では5.5%減となった。
The Japan National Tourism Organization said on May 20 that foreign visitor arrivals to Japan in April totaled 3,692,200. That was a 5.5% decline from a year earlier.
前年割れは3カ月ぶりだが、2026年の単月としては最も多い数字になった。弱さと底堅さが同時に見えたかたちだ。
It was the first year-on-year decline in three months, but it was still the highest monthly figure of 2026. The release showed weakness and resilience at the same time.
総数が高水準だった理由
1月から4月までの累計は1437万5800人となり、2年連続で4月までに1400万人を超えた。年間ベースではなお高い流れが続いている。
The cumulative total from January through April reached 14,375,800, topping 14 million by April for a second straight year. On a yearly basis, the broader trend is still running high.
日本政府観光局は、欧州ではイースター休暇の期ずれで旅行需要が3月下旬と4月上旬に分散したと説明した。一方で、桜シーズンに合わせた訪日需要は支えになった。
JNTO said that in Europe, a shift in Easter holiday timing spread travel demand between late March and early April. At the same time, travel demand timed to the cherry blossom season helped support arrivals.
伸びた市場
国地域別では、韓国が87万8600人で前年同月比21.7%増、台湾が64万3500人で19.7%増だった。米国も33万人で0.8%増えた。
By market, South Korea rose 21.7% year on year to 878,600 visitors, while Taiwan rose 19.7% to 643,500. The United States also edged up 0.8% to 330,000.
ベトナムは7万6000人で18.6%増えた。日本政府観光局によると、韓国、台湾、ベトナムなど9市場で4月としての過去最高を更新した。フランスでは単月の過去最高になった。
Vietnam increased 18.6% to 76,000 visitors. JNTO said nine markets, including South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam, set record highs for the month of April, while France reached an all-time monthly high.
重しになった数字
中国からの訪日外客数は33万700人で前年同月比56.8%減だった。中東地域も22,300人で21.4%減り、香港も14.3%減った。
Arrivals from China were 330,700, down 56.8% from a year earlier. The Middle East fell 21.4% to 22,300 visitors, and Hong Kong also declined 14.3%.
増加市場が多かったにもかかわらず、大きい市場の落ち込みが総数を押し下げたと見られる。発表は、市場動向を細かく見ながらプロモーションを進めるとしている。
Even though many markets grew, declines in some large markets are seen as having pushed down the overall total. The release said JNTO will keep advancing promotions while closely watching market trends.
