マルコス大統領、東京で国賓歓迎
フィリピンのフェルディナンド・マルコスJr.大統領は、5月27日、東京の皇居で歓迎式典に臨んだ。今回の訪日は、同氏にとって初めての国賓としての来日だ。
Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. attended a welcome ceremony at Tokyo's Imperial Palace on May 27. It was his first trip to Japan as a state guest.
式典では、ナルヒト天皇さまとマサコ皇后さまが夫妻を迎えた。国歌が演奏され、マルコスJr.大統領は栄誉礼を受けたと伝えられた。
At the ceremony, Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako welcomed the couple. The national anthems were played, and Marcos received a guard of honor.
10年以上ぶりの国賓訪日
日本の報道によると、フィリピンの大統領が国賓として日本を訪れるのは2015年以来だという。今回の訪問は、日本とフィリピンの関係が深まっていることを映す 場面とも受け止められている。
Japanese reporting said it was the first state-guest visit to Japan by a Philippine president since 2015. The visit is also being seen as a sign of deeper ties between the two countries.
また、この歓迎は、昨年3月のルラ大統領の訪日 以来の国賓行事で、令和時代では3回目とされた。
It was also described as Japan's first state-guest reception since Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva visited in March last year, and the third such event of the Reiwa era.
会談では貿易と安全保障が焦点
フィリピン側の発表では、マルコスJr.大統領は高市早苗首相との会談で、貿易と投資に関する 合意文書の署名や交換に立ち会う 見通しだとされた。
According to Philippine-side announcements, Marcos was expected to witness the signing or exchange of trade and investment agreements during talks with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
さらに両国は、安全保障、海洋協力、地域情勢なども話し合うとされる。東南アジアや国際情勢をめぐる連携も議題に入るとみられる。
The two sides were also expected to discuss security, maritime cooperation and the regional situation. Coordination on Southeast Asia and wider international issues was likely to be part of the agenda as well.
70年の節目を迎える
今回の訪問は、日本とフィリピンの国交正常化から70年の節目と重なる。そのため、二国間関係を改めて確認する 象徴的な機会と位置付けられている。
The visit coincides with the 70th anniversary of normalized diplomatic ties between Japan and the Philippines. That gives it added symbolic weight as a chance to reaffirm bilateral relations.
マルコスJr.大統領の日程は5月26日から5月29日までの4日間とされ、東京では政府要人との会談に加えて、在日フィリピン人との交流も行うとされた。
The trip was described as a four-day visit running from May 26 to May 29. In Tokyo, Marcos was also expected to meet members of the Filipino community in addition to senior Japanese officials.
