大阪・関西万博の資材、全国で再利用へ
2025年の大阪・関西万博で使われた 建物や作品、建設資材、設備が、閉幕から半年あまりを経て、全国で再利用されていると5月20日に報じられた。
It was reported on May 20 that buildings, artworks, construction materials and equipment used at the 2025 Osaka Kansai Expo are being reused across Japan more than six months after the event closed.
万博の資材が次の役目へ
日本国際博覧会協会は、資材や備品の移設と再利用をつなぐサービス「EXPO CIRCULAR MARKET MYAKU-ICHI!」で、有料または無償の引き渡しの申し込みを受け付けてきたとされる。
The Expo association is said to have accepted applications, either paid or free, through its "EXPO CIRCULAR MARKET MYAKU-ICHI!" service, which matches relocation and reuse of materials and equipment.
主催者は、こうした仕組みによって需要と供給を結びつけ、万博の資源を各地で生かすことを目指したと見られる。
The organizer is seen as having tried to connect supply and demand so that Expo resources can be put to use in communities around the country.
大屋根リングの木材に具体例
公式発表によると、万博の象徴だった大屋根リングの木材の受け手には、石川県の珠洲市が含まれる。地震と豪雨で被害を受けた 公営住宅の復興資材として使う 予定だという。
According to an official announcement, Suzu in Ishikawa Prefecture is among the recipients of timber from the Grand Ring, the Expo's symbolic structure. The city plans to use it as reconstruction material for public housing damaged by the earthquake and heavy rain.
同じ 木材は、鹿島建設では2027年の国際園芸博覧会「GREEN×EXPO 2027」の大型 記念碑の材料にもなるとされる。
The same timber is also said to be bound for Kajima Corporation, where it will become material for a large monument at GREEN x EXPO 2027, the international horticultural exposition in 2027.
福島県の浪江町でも、駅前の記念碑に活用されると発表された。万博の象徴物が、別の土地で新しい 意味を持つことになりそうだ。
Officials also announced that Namie in Fukushima Prefecture will use some of it for a monument in front of the station. A symbolic Expo structure now seems likely to gain new meaning in other places.
閉幕後も続く 万博の余波
大阪の万博会場では、閉幕後に解体と搬出が進み、建材や機材、美術作品などが次々と新しい行き先へ送られていると見られる。
At the Osaka Expo site, dismantling and removal have progressed after the closing, and building materials, equipment and artworks appear to be moving one after another to new destinations.
協会は、地域活性化にもつながるような再配置を進めたい 考えだとされる。使い終えたものを捨てず、次の場所で役立てる 流れそのものが、万博の遺産として注目されているようだ。
The association is said to want redeployment that also contributes to regional revitalization. The idea of not discarding used items but putting them to work in a new place is itself drawing attention as part of the Expo's legacy.
半年あまりを過ぎたいまも、大阪・関西万博の資材は全国で第二の役割を探しているといえる。一時的な催しのあとに何を残すかという問いに、実務的な答えを示していると見られる。
Even now, more than half a year later, materials from the Osaka Kansai Expo can be seen as finding a second role around Japan. They also appear to offer a practical answer to what a temporary mega-event can leave behind.
